Congress’s anti-Hindu mentality exposed again!
Congress MLA Phool Singh Baraiya recently got embroiled in controversy due to an objectionable and insensitive statement made regarding rape. Now in a strange development, senior Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh has come to his defence.
Digvijay Singh claimed that Baraiya had merely repeated the words of a Brahmin professor of Patna University. He said that Baraiya’s comments have been distorted and created an unnecessary controversy.
Speaking to reporters, Digvijay Singh said, “He had clearly said that all this is written in a book written by Jha, the chairman of the philosophy department of Patna University, who is a Brahmin. This is not his personal statement.” He further alleged that action should be taken against Jha instead of Baraiya, because Baraiya had only cited that book.
The Congress Rajya Sabha MP also said that Baraiya had clearly said, “This is not my opinion. I am against it.” After this Singh raised the question, “If you have to take action then do it against Jha, but you do not do so. The book has been published by Rajkamal Prakashan, you can take action against him also, but you do not. You are not taking action against any of them. Why?”
In an interview on January 17 (Saturday), Baraiya, MLA from Bhander seat in Madhya Pradesh’s Datia district, had said, “Who are the highest victims of rape in India? Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and OBCs.
The theory of rape is that if a man, no matter what his mental state, sees a beautiful girl walking down the street, he can get distracted and commit rape.” There was huge protest and anger after this statement.
Citing a book titled ‘Rudrayamal Tantra’, Baraiya argued that some criminals believe that sexually exploiting women of particular castes gives them spiritual merit similar to pilgrimage. According to him, such crimes are motivated by this thinking and he also said that sometimes such heinous acts are committed by a group rather than an individual. He also mentioned cases involving small children and claimed that such incidents are the result of such “perverted mentality”.
Baraiya also said that women are judged on the basis of their “beauty”. He further claimed that even though a man may be distracted by a “beautiful woman”, women from the Scheduled Caste, Tribe and OBC community are targeted even if they do not fall within that definition, because the perpetrators feel that their act gives them religious benefits. He even said that “No man can rape a woman without her consent.”
Baraiya said, “It is written in the book that having a relationship with a woman of this caste gives the fruits of a pilgrimage. Now if one cannot go on a pilgrimage, what is the alternative? Have a relationship at home and you will get the virtue. He will catch her in the dark or in the light and try to rape her. No man can rape a woman without her consent. This is the reason why girls as young as four months and one year old are raped. They do all this to get ‘punya’.” Does.”
