Why did BJP-Shiv Sena keep 29 councilors in the hotel like hostages?

After Mahayuti’s victory in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections, suspense remains regarding the post of Mayor. Meanwhile, Uddhav Thackeray’s party Shiv Sena (UBT) has targeted Shiv Sena councilors for being kept in the hotel. Priyanka Chaturvedi said that if everything was fine in BJP-Shiv Sena then 29 councilors would not have been kept in the hotel.

Speaking to news agency IANS, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi said, “Eknath Shinde himself betrayed his party. He also distributed election tickets in the municipal elections on the basis of money and power.

Therefore, it is clearly visible that 29 councilors were kept in a hotel like hostages because Eknath Shinde knew that they were not with him. They know that BJP will be ready to take their councilors.”

Priyanka Chaturvedi further said, “Eknath Shinde kept his councilors in the hotel also to put pressure on BJP, because without the support of Shiv Sena, BJP mayor cannot come to BMC. BJP is definitely the largest party, but it cannot make the mayor on its own.” He said, “There is a fight between BJP and Shiv Sena over which party will become the mayor.”

Calling Mahayuti a ‘big liar’ alliance, Priyanka Chaturvedi said, “Mahayuti has gained power in Maharashtra on the basis of lies. Efforts are being made to gain power in BMC on the basis of lies as well. These people have nothing to do with BMC and the people of Mumbai.”

Meanwhile, on India’s decision to recall the families of its diplomats from Bangladesh, the Shiv Sena (UBT) MP said, “There are continuous killings and mob lynchings taking place there. The Hindu minority is under threat and anti-India hatred is on the rise. This is not a favorable situation for the families of the diplomats. That is why they are being called back.”
