Maharashtra: Instant justice in pending cases due to the initiative of CM Fadnavis!

The state government is working on the principle of ‘Justice for all, speedy justice’. Under the initiative and guidance of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the shortcomings in the justice system are being removed to ensure speedy justice. Giving priority to speedy justice under the new criminal law, special emphasis has been laid on disposal of pending cases in Justice Aid Scientific Laboratories, thereby expediting the judicial process.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis directed to run a special campaign for speedy disposal of pending cases under the Directorate of Justice Assistant Scientific Laboratory. Through regular reviews, he speeded up the process of disposal of these cases.

In the year 2025, 1 lakh 81 thousand cases were pending in the laboratories of the Directorate, while 2 lakh 94 thousand new cases were received. Under the special campaign, by the end of December 2025, 3 lakh 96 thousand 879 cases were disposed of and the number of pending cases was reduced to 79 thousand 542.

Under this special campaign, by increasing the prevailing standards of all the departments, every officer and employee of the Directorate was made to work from 8 am to 8 pm, and pending cases were resolved by working even on government holidays.

While there was a capacity to dispose of minimum 2 lakh to 2 lakh 15 thousand cases with the available human resources, as per the instructions of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, 3 lakh 96 thousand 879 cases were disposed of. In this way, it was possible to successfully dispose of 1 lakh 02 thousand 413 additional cases out of the pending cases.

Out of the pending cases by the end of December 2025, the ‘Conventional Forensic’ Department disposed of 3 lakh 96 thousand 275 cases. Currently 27 thousand 524 new cases have been received in this department. From February 2026, the process of analysis will be started on the same day the case is received.

This will end the pendency of cases and strengthen the system of providing speedy justice to the victims. Pending cases in the Computer Crime Department, Cyber, Sound and Audio-Video Departments are also being resolved expeditiously.

Due to the speedy judicial process, victims will not have to wait for justice for years. Justice Assistant Scientific Laboratory Directorate has an important role in the dynamic justice system.

For this reason, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has laid special emphasis on making the directorate more efficient. ‘Mobile Forensic Vans’ are being provided to every sub-divisional police officer office in the state. As a result of all these measures, the judicial process is gaining more momentum.
