Vande Mataram guidelines are in the interest of the country: Iqbal Ansari!
Speaking to IANS, Iqbal Ansari said, “It is a good thing. Everyone should say ‘Vande Mataram’. We also say it. There is nothing wrong in it. Some people try to find fault in everything.”
He further said that this national song has been a part of education since primary school. We have read it from primary to high school and intermediate. Now the government has made it mandatory, which is a very good step. Everyone should say ‘Vande Mataram’ and there should be no discrimination in it. Along with studies, this is also very important. People have been saying this before and will continue to say it in the future also.
Responding to those opposing the proposal, Ansari said, “Whenever a good step is taken, some people object to it.”
According to the new rules, when ‘Vande Mataram’ and the national anthem are sung in an event, ‘Vande Mataram’ will be sung first and then ‘Jana Gana Mana’. The ministry also made it clear that people present will have to stand carefully during the national anthem. However, this rule will not apply in cinema halls when the song is played as part of a film or documentary.
Till now, there was no clear national protocol for ‘Vande Mataram’, while rules are in place for the national anthem. The Center said the move is aimed at eliminating the distinction between ‘acceptable’ and ‘missing’ verses and treating the song as a complete composition originally written by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee.
These guidelines have been issued by the Narendra Modi government after a long debate in Parliament on the year-long programs to mark the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram’ and its use.
