CM Revanth Reddy meets Rajnath Singh, discusses Gandhi Sarovar project!
The Chief Minister formally invited the Defense Minister to attend the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Gandhi Sarovar Project, which is scheduled to be held in the last week of February. He also informed that this program will be held at the sacred confluence of Isa and Musi rivers.
According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) in Hyderabad, he informed the Union Minister that the ashes of Mahatma Gandhi were immersed at the historic Sangam site in February 1948, making the site of national importance.
CM Revanth Reddy said the Gandhi Sarovar Project is a major component of the state government’s comprehensive Musi River Rejuvenation Project, which aims at ecological restoration and sustainable development.
He further said that the government aims to develop Bapu Ghat as a world-class educational, cultural, spiritual and environmental destination reflecting the ideals and legacy of Mahatma Gandhi.
According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, the Defense Minister appreciated the initiatives and efforts being taken by the state government. The Chief Minister was accompanied by Congress MPs Mallu Ravi, Kadiam Kavya, Anil Kumar Yadav and Vamsi Gaddam during the meeting.
During his last meeting with the Defense Minister in September last year, Revanth Reddy had requested him to transfer 98.20 acres of defense land for the Gandhi Sarovar project. The Chief Minister informed the Defense Minister about the State’s plans to set up ‘Gandhi Ekta Mandal’ at the confluence of Musi and Isa rivers.
Revanth Reddy emphasized that the Gandhi Sarovar Project will stand as an enduring symbol of national unity and the eternal ideals of Mahatma Gandhi.
