How Is Abhishek Sharma’s Health Now The Indian Opener Is Recovering From A Stomach Infection

Indian men’s cricket team’s explosive opening batsman Abhishek Sharma is currently recovering from a stomach infection. For this reason he remained out of the match against Namibia in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. There was concern among fans about his health, on which Abhishek himself has now given an update in a light-hearted manner.

Abhishek Sharma was seen in a vlog of Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh, where he talked about his recovery and diet. In this video shared on social media, Arshdeep asks Abhishek about his health. In response, Abhishek says, “Dal and rice are good.” After this, when he was asked, “Are you okay?”, he smiled and said, “Dal and rice are very good, I am also fine.”

This conversation indicated that Abhishek is taking simple and light food, pulses and rice during recovery. However, no official confirmation has been given by the team or medical staff regarding his diet. In the video, when Arshdeep asks him about his weight loss, Abhishek replies, “A few kilos”.

According to a report, after the net session at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on February 6, Abhishek ate something, due to which his health deteriorated. His condition had worsened before the match. Despite this, he showed the passion to play and came on the field in the match against America. However, he could play only one ball. His physical problems were clearly visible during the match. He was also not seen in the dugout for much time and could not even attend the post-match handshake after India’s 29-run win.

During the toss against Namibia, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav said about Abhishek’s fitness, it may take one or two matches for him to be fully fit. In the absence of Abhishek, Sanju Samson opened the innings with Ishan Kishan and scored 22 runs with the help of three sixes in eight balls.

At present, the team management is keeping a close watch on the health of Abhishek Sharma. His return will depend entirely on medical clearance. Fans hope that this young batsman will soon become fully fit and be seen in the field again for Team India.
