Respect for invaders like Tipu Sultan in the country is condemnable and worrying: RP Singh!
Political turmoil has intensified over the installation of Tipu Sultan’s photo in the office of the Deputy Mayor in Malegaon, Maharashtra. After this picture was put up in Malegaon Municipal Corporation, a round of allegations and counter-allegations started between political parties.
In the same sequence, BJP leader RP Singh said that the respect for invaders like Tipu Sultan in the country is condemnable and worrying.
On this controversy, BJP’s national spokesperson RP Singh while talking to IANS said that some people in the country praise invaders like Tipu Sultan and Aurangzeb, which is unfortunate.
He said, “Even today such controversial people are being given respect in India. Invaders are being worshiped inside the country, which is worrying.”
RP Singh said that people holding public positions should understand that they work by taking oath of the Constitution and the display of such symbols in their offices gives a message. He alleged that such incidents create unnecessary controversy in the society.
Whereas, regarding ‘Seva Teerth’ and ‘Kartavya Bhawan’, he said that those who are emotional about the symbols of buildings related to the British heritage, talk only about North Block and South Block.
He said North Block and South Block were built during the British rule, while today initiatives like ‘Seva Tirtha’ and ‘Kartavya Bhawan’ are being taken to serve 140 crore Indians. According to him, these places will mark a new beginning in making policies in the interest of the country. Describing it as an important and welcome decision taken after independence, he said, “It may be late, but better.”
The address of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has now changed. The last cabinet meeting was held in South Block on 13 February, where important resolutions were passed. The government believes that these steps will move away from colonial symbols and strengthen the governance system in line with modern Indian sentiments. Seva Teerth has modern facilities, digital integration and better coordination, which will help in meeting the goals of progress and development of the country.
