US Secretary of State Rubio will go to East Europe, will meet Trump’s European friends!

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will visit Eastern Europe on Sunday on a two-day visit. Diplomatically, this relationship is very important and is related to gathering support for President Donald Trump. They will be in Slovakia and Hungary.

Actually, the leadership of these two countries is maintaining distance from the European Union and is close to Trump. The State Department had given information related to travel between these two countries only last week. It was told that Rubio would use this trip to talk about bilateral issues including energy cooperation and NATO.

A statement was issued saying that after Munich, Rubio will go to Bratislava (capital of Slovakia) and Budapest (capital of Hungary) on 15-16 February. In Bratislava, Secretary Rubio will meet with key members of the Slovak government to discuss shared regional security interests.

It further said that during his visit to Budapest, the External Affairs Minister will meet key Hungarian officials to further strengthen our common bilateral and regional interests. This includes our commitment to peace processes to resolve global conflicts and the U.S.-Hungary Energy Partnership.

Rubio briefly mentioned the trip to reporters Thursday before arriving in Europe (for the Munich security conference). “These are countries that are very strong with us, very cooperative with the United States, work very closely with us, and it’s a great opportunity to meet them and two countries I’ve never been to,” he said.

Rubio, who is also Trump’s national security adviser, will meet in Bratislava on Sunday with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, who visited Trump in Florida last month. The US Secretary of State is leaving there after attending the Munich Security Conference.
