Pakistan Decided To Bowl Against India And Lost The Match Ashwin
India won by 61 runs in the high-voltage match of T20 World Cup 2026 against Pakistan. Analyzing Pakistan’s crushing defeat, India’s former spin-bowling all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has described the toss as an important moment of the match. Ravichandran Ashwin believes Pakistan’s decision to field first after winning the toss gave India a significant advantage on a pitch where chasing has been difficult throughout the tournament.
Ashwin said on his YouTube channel ‘Ashwin’, “Pakistan won the toss and decided to bowl first, because we saw the match between Australia and Zimbabwe. Australia found it difficult to score 170 runs. In an IPL match, if teams need 100 runs in the last 10 overs, then that team wins easily, but in this World Cup, it is not happening. At Premadasa Stadium, you can score 100 runs. Can’t chase 100 runs in overs.”
He said, “The way Pakistan deals with pressure, India is 100 times better in that matter. I don’t think Pakistan is that strong. To be honest, Pakistan has become technically better under Salman Agha and Mike Hesson, but the way they brought on Shaheen Afridi after Agha’s first over, it was a huge mistake.”
In the match played in Colombo on Sunday, India, batting first, scored 175 runs losing 7 wickets. For the Indian team, Ishan Kishan scored 77 runs in 40 balls with 3 sixes and 10 fours, while captain Suryakumar Yadav contributed 32 runs to the team’s account. In response, the Pakistani team was reduced to 114 runs in 18 overs. For this team, Usman Khan scored 44 runs in 34 balls, while Shaheen Afridi played an unbeaten inning of 23 runs.
India will conclude their league-stage match against Netherlands in Ahmedabad on Wednesday before starting preparations for the Super 8s.
