A Big Gift From The Yogi Government To Anganwadi And Asha Workers

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while replying to the motion of thanks on the Governor’s address in the Legislative Council on Monday (February 16), announced an increase in the honorarium of Anganwadi and Asha workers. “After increasing the pension amount of elderly and destitute people, the government has now decided to increase the amount of honorarium of women employees as well,” he said.

The Chief Minister said that the state government has already increased the pension amount of old and destitute people and now it has been decided to provide relief to women frontline workers also. This step will directly benefit thousands of Anganwadi and Asha workers working in the state.

The Chief Minister said that the government is also working in the interest of Shikshamitras and instructors. Recently, cashless medical facility of up to Rs 5 lakh has been announced for Shikshamitras, instructors, cooks and teachers. This facility will be applicable from April 1. He said that the government’s focus is on satisfaction, not appeasement. Also claimed that in recent years, about 6 crore people have been taken out of the poverty line.

On the issue of law and order, the Chief Minister said that Uttar Pradesh has changed from “Fear Zone” to “Faith Zone”. He said that there was a time when families were worried about the safety of their daughters, but now women can return home safely even after late night duty.

He attributed this to strict policing, record police recruitments, better cyber and forensic infrastructure and ‘zero tolerance’ policy. According to him, instead of riots and curfew, there is now an atmosphere of economic activities related to festivals, temples and tourism.

The Chief Minister targeted the Samajwadi Party over the Special Intensive Review (SIR). He alleged that the opposition parties were insulting constitutional institutions and misbehaving with booth level officials. He claimed that more than 2.88 crore names in the SIR list are of people who are either dead or have shifted.

The Chief Minister also said that the registration of such voters was done forcibly during the previous governments. He also explained the role of Form 6, Form 7 and Form 8 in the process of Election Commission. Highlighting the economic development, the Chief Minister said that before 2017, the unemployment rate in the state was more than 19 percent, which has now come down to 2.24 percent. He said that Uttar Pradesh is moving forward in tourism, hospitality and defense manufacturing as well as in new areas like AI robotics, semiconductors, drones, cyber security and electric vehicles.

The state’s first electric vehicle manufacturing unit has been established in Lucknow. He said that more than 19 percent of the total electric vehicles sold in the country are registered in Uttar Pradesh and the state’s share in three-wheeler EVs is more than 40 percent. More than 700 electric buses are operating in the state and charging stations have been installed on expressways. The Chief Minister said that with more than 20,000 startups, seven centers of excellence and eight unicorns, the youth of the state are playing an important role in creating a new identity.
