The actor has been in the news for the last few weeks regarding the Rs 9 crore check bounce case. According to reports, the court granted him interim bail after depositing Rs 1.5 crore in the complainant’s bank account. This amount was deposited in compliance with the prior instructions of the court. As part of his bail conditions, he has surrendered his passport and cannot travel abroad without court permission.
Rajpal Yadav had surrendered on February 5 this month, when the High Court had rejected his plea for additional time in the check bounce and loan default case. The court had sentenced him to six months’ imprisonment citing repeated disobedience of orders.
The case dates back to 2010 and is said to be related to his production company’s financial liabilities related to the film Ata Pata Lapata, of which around Rs 9 crore were reportedly outstanding. The video, which went viral amidst emotional moments at a family function, shows an aspect of the actor’s personal life that brings out a family bond and sensitivity away from the legal controversies and headlines.
