IED recovered from Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir after fear of terrorist attack in Delhi

A warning was issued of a possible terror attack by Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba in Delhi. On the basis of intelligence information, it was told that the target could be the Red Fort area, after which an alert was issued. Meanwhile, there was a sensation in Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir due to the discovery of explosives.

IED found in a suspicious bag near Raiya police post in Amritsar. Police said that the bomb disposal squad reached the spot and the IED was defused. SSP Sohail Qasim Mir said, “A suspicious bag was spotted near the police post. Immediately the bomb disposal squad was called, who confirmed that it was an IED. It was later defused as per protocol.”

The second incident took place in Safapora in Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir, where the bomb disposal squad of the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police recovered the IED and defused it within a few hours. This was the third IED found in North Kashmir last week. Another IED was also found in Baramulla on Tangmarg Road on Thursday.

During this time, security agencies had warned that Lashkar-e-Taiba could target religious and tourist places of Delhi. According to intelligence, the organization was trying to avenge the February 6 suicide attack on a mosque in Pakistan, in which more than 30 people were killed. However, Islamic State took responsibility for this attack.

According to the information, a temple located in Chandni Chowk area of Old Delhi could also be a possible target. It is alleged that the terrorists were planning IED attacks around Old Delhi and Red Fort. Three months ago, a car blast took place near the Red Fort, killing 12 people and injuring more than 20. Investigation found that a module linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind was behind the attack.
