Tejas Met With Another Accident Pilot Safe

Another Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) of the Indian Air Force (IAF) has become a victim of an accident. According to preliminary information, the accident occurred in the operational area of a major airbase when the aircraft was landing after completing a routine training flight (routine sortie). Initial assessments suggest a possible technical glitch in the onboard system. However, the Air Force has not yet issued any official statement on this incident.

According to sources, the aircraft suffered serious structural (airframe) damage during landing and it is feared that it may have to be taken out of service. The matter of relief was that the pilot ejected in time. The pilot did not suffer any serious injuries.

The Tejas Mk1A program is already facing delays. The Indian Air Force has ordered 180 MK1A fighter planes, but deliveries are behind schedule by nearly two years. Following the latest accident, a comprehensive technical inspection and safety review of the entire fleet is likely to be initiated.

Earlier in March 2024, a Tejas aircraft had crashed near Jaisalmer while returning from a firepower demonstration, in which the pilot had ejected safely. In November 2025, another Tejas aircraft crashed in the United Arab Emirates during the Dubai Airshow. Wing Commander Namansh Syal, who was flying the plane, died in that accident because he could not eject safely. Horrific scenes of the accident had come to light, in which the plane was seen engulfed in flames as soon as it fell on the ground.
