Pm Modis Israel Visit Israel Proposes Hexagon Of Alliances To India
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going on a two-day visit to Israel from February 25. Before this visit, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin has invited India to be a part of the new regional alliance proposal by the name of ‘Hexagon of Alliances’. He said it would be a six-nation alliance aimed at countering the so-called radical Shia axis in West Asia.
At the beginning of the cabinet meeting, Netanyahu described Modi’s visit as historic. “This morning, at the beginning of our Cabinet meeting, I talked about the historic visit of my dear friend, Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Israel this Wednesday,” he wrote on Twitter. He also described India-Israel relations as a powerful alliance between two global leaders and said the two countries are partners in innovation, security and shared strategic vision.

According to Netanyahu, this six-party alliance will include West Asia and its surrounding countries. The countries he mentioned included India, Greece, Cyprus and some other Arab, African and Asian countries.
He said, “The vision that I have is that we will create a whole system, essentially a ‘hexagon’ of alliances around or within West Asia… The objective here is to create an axis of countries that are unanimous on reality, challenges and goals against both the radical axis, the radical Shia axis, which we have attacked very forcefully, and the emerging radical Sunni axis.”
The initiative may be similar to the concept of the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), which aims to promote economic growth through connectivity. The proposed ‘Hexagon’ will be based on the three pillars of economic cooperation, diplomatic coordination and security partnership.
Let us tell you that this is Prime Minister Modi’s second visit to Israel after 2017. The visit comes months after a ceasefire following the Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza. During the two-day visit, Modi is likely to address the ‘Knesset’, Israel’s parliament, which is considered a special honour.
The two countries are expected to sign agreements in areas such as technology, security, artificial intelligence, agriculture, water management and trade. Under defense cooperation, joint development of anti-ballistic missile shields, laser weapons, drones and long-range missile systems can also be discussed, along with the possibility of increasing cooperation on advanced systems such as Iron Dome, David’s Sling and Arrow.
Responding to the message ahead of the visit, Modi wrote, “Thank you, my friend, Prime Minister Netanyahu… India deeply values our strong friendship with Israel, built on trust, innovation and a common commitment to peace and progress. Look forward to our conversations during my upcoming visit to Israel.”
Thank you friends, Prime Minister Netanyahu.
