16 year old Indian restaurant ‘Rangrez’ closed in London due to threats from Pakistani groups
The restaurant ‘Rangrez’, which has been serving Indian taste in London for 16 years, is now going to close. Restaurant owner Harman Singh Kapoor has cited rising costs, constant threats and concerns about security as the reasons for this. He said he was repeatedly harassed by Pakistani groups and did not receive adequate support from the Metropolitan Police.

Kapoor indicated that he would now focus entirely on activism. He wrote, “Now the time has come for me to completely dedicate myself to activism without any hindrance. The radicals should remember this: You can disrupt my business, but not my will. Now I come against you stronger, without any strings attached.”
He also thanked his customers, saying, “Thank you to all the genuine customers who have supported us over the years. We will always be grateful. Thank you. Team Rangrezz. Harman Kapoor and family.”
Kapoor has previously publicly stated that he and his family received threats after posting a video criticizing the Khalistan movement. In 2023, he claimed that a few days after the incident of vandalism at the Indian High Commission in London, his restaurant was attacked by pro-Khalistan supporters.
At that time he had raised the question, “Will we have to die for police action to be taken?” He had alleged that he, his wife and children faced death threats, objectionable phone calls and online bullying. According to him, the attackers demanded him to remove the video and raised slogans like “Khalistan Zindabad”, “Hindustan Murdabad”.
British police said at the time that officers attended the scene and spoke to the victim, reviewed CCTV and implemented additional security measures. However, Kapoor says that the accused have not been caught yet and his family is living in constant fear. Amidst continuing controversies and safety concerns, the closure of ‘Rangrez’ now marks the end of a long chapter that had marked Indian cuisine in London for over a decade and a half.
