Explosion Near Dubai Airport Pv Sindhu Says The Situation Is Getting More Frightening Every Hour

Badminton player PV Sindhu, who has won two Olympic medals for India, has shared her horrific experience on social media. On Sunday (March 1), Sindhu told that she and her team were taking shelter in the airport premises, when there was chaos after the explosion near the international airport due to missile attacks. The security situation in many places including Dubai has deteriorated due to Iran’s retaliatory missile attacks. Due to this, air traffic was disrupted and thousands of passengers got stuck.

“The situation is becoming more frightening every hour.”

In a detailed post on social media platform

Sindhu said her coach was closest to the smoke and debris and she had to move away immediately. This explosion further increased the already ongoing chaos in the busiest aviation hub like Dubai.

“Horrible to hear the sounds of interception above”

On February 28, Sindhu had told that all flights have been suspended till further notice. He wrote, “It is difficult to understand what is happening right now. Hearing the sounds of interception from above and seeing how quickly everything has escalated is truly scary.” He said, “There are a lot of disturbing videos coming out, and sadly, this is the truth of what is happening. Dubai is a city I love very much, a place that has always felt safe and full of life, which makes this moment even more difficult to understand.”

Expressing gratitude to those asking about her well-being, Sindhu wrote, “Thank you to everyone who is messaging and checking in, it really means a lot. I am safe right now, stuck in Dubai with my team, and we are fine because the situation is constantly changing regarding the war with Iran. There is chaos at the airport, many families are stranded and waiting, we are all just hoping that we will soon.” Only then will we get out of this.”

He concluded, “Moments like these remind you how fragile normal life is. Praying for the safety and peace of all those affected.”

Shift to a safe place, support of Indian High Commission

The Indian High Commission immediately swung into action following PV Sindhu’s tweets, following which the Olympic medalist confirmed that she and her team have been shifted to a more secure location. “We are all safe now and thanks to the continuous efforts of Dubai Airport staff and Dubai authorities, we have been moved to a more secure location,” he said.

He further wrote, “Thank you also to the Indian High Commission in Dubai for their tremendous work and continued help in keeping us safe. For now, we are trying to relax and remain hopeful as we wait for things to fall into place.”

Sindhu was going for All England Open

Sindhu had left for the prestigious All England Open in Birmingham, with Dubai as her transit stop. But the sudden rise in regional tensions brought operations at Dubai International and Al Maktoum International airports to a standstill.

Passengers are facing uncertainty due to cancellation of flights and huge crowd in terminals. This development has shown how geopolitical tensions can affect ordinary citizens and even international sporting events.
