Prime Minister Modi’s stance on war in West Asia

As hostilities escalated in West Asia on Monday (March 2), Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated that India has always supported dialogue and diplomatic routes to resolve global conflicts. He expressed concern over the current situation. In a joint press conference with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Prime Minister Modi said that the current events in West Asia are a matter of grave concern for New Delhi. He said, “India has always insisted on the path of dialogue and diplomacy to resolve such disputes.”

The Prime Minister also highlighted the shared global concerns regarding terrorism, extremism and radicalism. He said, “We have similar views on terrorism, extremism and radicalism, because these are serious challenges not only for us but for the entire world.” He stressed that close cooperation among countries is necessary to deal with these threats and ensure global peace and stability.

PM Modi said, “Mutual cooperation to deal with such problems is very important for global peace and stability.” Referring to India’s comprehensive foreign policy, the Prime Minister said that India’s role has been clear even in times of global tension. He said, “India’s stand on rising tensions around the world has always been clear. India has consistently supported peace and stability, and the call for peace becomes stronger when two democracies come together.”

Prime Minister Modi also assured that the government is constantly monitoring the situation and is in touch with countries in the region to ensure the safety of Indian citizens. “We are working closely with all countries in the region to ensure the safety of Indian citizens living there,” he said.
