Do Padahastasana daily to calm the mind and strengthen the spine.
Practicing yoga regularly not only makes the body flexible but also keeps the mind light and calm. Among the many asanas of yoga, one special and effective asana is ‘Padahastasana’. Its regular practice provides many physical and mental benefits.
Padahastasana is a yoga asana in which one has to bend forward while standing and try to touch the feet with the hands. This asana has been given great importance in the tradition of Hatha Yoga.
According to ancient belief, Padahastasana has been a part of Surya Namaskar, which was done to absorb the energy of the Sun and increase the vitality in the body. While doing this the body bends towards the earth. Yoga experts believe that doing it regularly not only increases physical flexibility in the body but also reduces mental stress.
In modern lifestyle where most of the time we remain bent in front of mobile or computer, this asana gives relief to the spine and increases the flow of energy in the entire body.
The Ministry of AYUSH has also highlighted its importance. According to him, this is a major yoga asana that makes the spine flexible, helps in improving digestion and reducing belly fat. It massages the abdominal organs, thereby providing relief from constipation and menstrual problems.
By doing this, the blood flow towards the head increases, which benefits the brain and eyes. Additionally, it calms the mind and helps reduce stress.
However, while doing yoga, always focus on your capacity. Forceful or excessive stretching can harm the body. Therefore, every person should do yoga as per his convenience and pace. Along with this, people suffering from serious illness, recent surgery and pregnant women should definitely consult a yoga expert before doing it.
