The truth of fifty years old relationships in ‘Jab Khuli Kitab’!

Young love is often shown in films made on topics like relationships and marriage, but the layers of the relationship of an older couple are rarely seen. Meanwhile, a similar film ‘Jab Khuli Kitab’ is coming with a different story.

Meanwhile, the makers released the trailer of the film, in which actress Dimple Kapadia is seen playing her character ‘Anasuya’ in an excellent manner.

Dimple Kapadia said, “This film is very special for me. The story is strong, the cast is brilliant, and the director’s vision is clear and sensitive. Through the film, I got the opportunity to work amidst the beauty of the mountains and the spiritual energy there. This made my experience more special.”

Talking about ‘Anusuya’, she said, “This character has been written with depth and truth. Anusuya wants to bring honesty in her relationship. When years pass in a relationship, it is not easy to speak the truth about bitterness. It requires emotional courage. I really liked the fact of my character that Anusuya’s intention is not to hurt her husband, but to be true to herself and her relationship.”

The film is written and directed by Saurabh Shukla. The story is about a couple who have spent fifty years together. Their lives are filled with everyday habits, shared memories and an understanding. Pankaj Kapoor is playing the role of husband ‘Gopal’ in this couple. The ordinary life of Gopal and Anusuya is shown in the trailer. They understand each other without saying anything. But, when Anusuya reveals an old secret, Gopal’s world is shaken.

Gopal is heartbroken by this truth and finally decides to get a divorce. He takes this decision because of the confusion of emotions going on inside. At this juncture, the film forces the audience to think whether a fifty-year-old relationship can end with one truth or can a place for understanding and forgiveness be created again.

Pankaj Kapoor said, “Usually young love stories are shown in films, but here we are talking about that stage of age, where people have spent a large part of their lives together. This story shows that love does not end with age, rather its form changes. Sometimes it becomes complicated, sometimes it hurts, and sometimes it acts as a balm.”

An important character in the story is also that of a young lawyer, played by Aparshakti Khurana. When Gopal decides to divorce, he turns to this lawyer. This young lawyer acts like a mirror to their relationship. During conversations with them, old wounds, incomplete conversations and suppressed emotions come to the fore.

Aparshakti Khurana said, “What I liked most about this film is that the process of forgiveness and reconnection of relationships has been shown in a very simple manner. The film touches the heart with simplicity and truth instead of heavy dialogues. This is a rare story, which will inspire the audience to think about their life and relationships.”

‘Jab Khuli Kitab’ will release on March 6 on ZEE5.
