Not a single Hindu refugee will be deported from West Bengal: Amit Shah!
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday assured that no Hindu refugee seeking refuge in West Bengal from the neighboring country due to religious persecution will be deported.
Addressing a meeting organized on the occasion of BJP’s ongoing ‘Parivartan Yatra’ in Raidighi in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal on Monday, the Home Minister said that there is a Bharatiya Janata Party-led government at the Centre. Indian citizenship of any Hindu refugee will not be taken away nor will he be deported.
Political analysts believe that this assurance of the Home Minister has come amid the apprehension of the people of Matua community that the names of a large number of voters of this community will be removed from the voter list after the voter documents are sent for judicial scrutiny by the judicial officers appointed by the Election Commission.
Matua Hindus are a socially backward class of people who have fled from neighboring Bangladesh and settled in various parts of West Bengal, mainly North 24 Parganas and Nadia districts. They have become an important vote bank for the BJP since the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
However, Home Minister Shah also said that the interests of Hindu refugees will be protected, while illegal infiltrators from the neighboring country will be dealt with strictly.
The Home Minister said that the infiltrators will be identified and appropriate legal action will be taken to expel them from the state.
Speaking on the occasion, Home Minister Shah announced that if the BJP comes to power in the state after the crucial assembly elections later this year, a special provision of Rs 5,700 crore will be made for women empowerment in West Bengal.
The Home Minister said that special schemes will be implemented to ensure dignity, security and economic empowerment of the mothers and sisters of Bengal.
He also addressed the issue of non-payment of dearness allowance and outstanding dues to West Bengal government employees. He assured that the state government employees will be provided the new pay structure as per the provisions of the 7th Pay Commission.
The Home Minister also said that if BJP comes to power in West Bengal this time, the process of filling the vacant posts in the West Bengal government will be started by the end of the current year.
He also promised to initiate strict legal action against those guilty of corruption during the last 16 years of Trinamool Congress rule in the state.
The Home Minister said that the influence of external mafias in Bengal will be ended and law and order will be strengthened.
