‘Ladli Behan Yojana’ will continue!
The Mahayuti government had launched ‘Ladli Behan Yojana’ for the women of the state. Lakhs of women have taken advantage of this scheme and the political debate regarding it was also intense. The opposition had many times cornered the government and claimed that this scheme would be stopped. Meanwhile, in the budget of 2026–27, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has made an important announcement regarding the state’s ‘Ladki Behan Yojana’.
Under Ladki Behan Yojana, eligible women are given financial assistance of Rs 1500 every month. The state budget presented on Friday, March 6, brought good news for the ‘darling sisters’. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that this scheme will continue like this in future also.
Devendra Fadnavis said, “I wish all the girl sisters of the state on the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8. Mukhyamantri Ladli Behan Yojana will continue in the future also. Necessary and adequate budget provision has also been made for this. Don’t worry, we are fulfilling everything of your mind.”
He took a dig at the opposition and said that they should not go to court only against this scheme. He also said that at present there are 37 lakh ‘Lakhpati Didis’ in the state and the government aims to make 25 lakh more women also ‘Lakhpati’.
Due to the elections of local self-government bodies in the state, many women were not able to get the installment of the scheme for the last few months. The installments of some women were stuck for three months. Now the government has started distributing the January installment. Money has been deposited in the accounts of some women and the remaining women are likely to get the amount in a day or two.
The government has also appealed that women who have not yet updated their KYC should complete the KYC process as soon as possible. The government has clarified that this scheme will continue for eligible women in future also.
