Maharashtra Budget: Loan waiver up to Rs 2 lakh for farmers

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis presented the state budget on Friday (March 6). During this, he made a big announcement regarding loan waiver of farmers. A scheme to provide loan waiver up to Rs 2 lakh to farmers has been announced. This is expected to provide great relief to the farmers.

It was promised to implement the loan waiver scheme and accordingly the scheme has been announced in this year’s budget. A committee was formed regarding loan waiver for the farmers of the state. “Punyashlok Ahilyabai Holkar Shetkari Loan Waiver Scheme” has been announced to provide loan waiver of up to Rs 2 lakh to farmers whose crop loans are outstanding till September 30, 2025.

Along with this, farmers who repay their loans regularly will also be given incentive benefit of up to Rs 50,000, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced.

Chief Minister Fadnavis said, “We had promised to give loan waiver to the farmers of the state. A committee was formed for this. Loan waiver of up to Rs 2 lakh will be given to eligible farmers in the state who have outstanding crop loans till September 30, 2025. For this, Punyashlok Ahilya Devi Loan Waiver Scheme has been announced.”

Along with providing loan waiver and incentive benefits, decisions will also be taken on the basis of the recommendations of the committee to strengthen the banking system of the state. The government’s resolve is that farmers should not get trapped in the burden of debt again and again and that they can be made debt free permanently. For this, long term measures are also being taken based on the recommendations of the committee.
