Ipl 2026 Gujarat Titans Get New Batting Coach Has Scored 15000 Runs In 273 Matches For Australia

Before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season, Gujarat Titans have strengthened their coaching team and appointed former Australian batsman Matthew Hayden as the batting coach. The franchise made its official announcement on Tuesday. The addition of Hayden, a two-time World Cup winner and considered one of the most dangerous openers of his era, will provide significant strength to the team’s support staff. Gujarat Titans, who won the title in 2022, are busy preparing for the new IPL season and this appointment is being considered as part of the same strategy.

The team’s Director of Cricket, Vikram Solanki, said Hayden’s experience will be extremely useful for the team. “Matthew’s appointment comes at an important juncture in our journey. As a franchise committed to great work and long-term success, we continue to focus on strengthening our cricketing ecosystem. His experience at the highest level, and his ability to guide emerging talent, will be a great asset for the coming season,” he said. Our batting will play an important role in creating our identity.”

Matthew Hayden also expressed his excitement about the new role and shared his thoughts about the batting standards of the team. He said, “Good batting creates pressure. Good batting takes over the game. This is the standard we want to set at Gujarat Titans.”

In his international career for Australia, Hayden played 273 matches and scored more than 15,000 runs across all formats. His aggressive and technically sound batting style greatly influenced the modern strategy of scoring fast runs during the powerplay in limited overs cricket. Hayden played for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL between 2008 and 2010. During this period, he scored 1,107 runs in 32 matches at an average of 36.90 and strike rate of 137.52.

The 2009 season was particularly brilliant for him, when he won the Orange Cap by scoring 572 runs. In 2010, he introduced a new style of aggressive batting in T20 cricket using his unique Mongus bat. In the same year, he also played an important role in helping Chennai Super Kings win their first IPL title. Now as the batting coach of Gujarat Titans, his responsibility will be to further strengthen the batting department of the team.
