Its Not Even Appropriate To Answer This Question Gautam Gambhir Takes A Dig At Kirti Azads Temple Comment

Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir has strongly reacted to the comments of former cricketer and MP Kirti Azad on the controversy over visiting the temple after India won the T20 World Cup. He said that it is not appropriate to answer this question. Such statements serve to belittle the team’s historic achievement.

Actually, India won the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 title by defeating New Zealand team in the final. After the victory, Indian team’s head coach Gautam Gambhir, captain Suryakumar Yadav and Jai Shah had come to visit the temple. Kirti Azad had criticized this and said that taking the trophy to a religious place, “Team India should be ashamed.”

Responding to this statement, Gambhir said that there is no need to give much importance to such comments and it is like belittling the hard work of the players. He told news agency ANI, “It is not even necessary to answer that question. To answer that question, it is a big moment for the entire country. If you ask me, it is a very big moment for our entire country. I think it is important that we celebrate the World Cup winner.”

Gambhir further said that such statements serve to weaken the team’s achievement. He said, “That’s why I said some things; there is no point in raising some things, because these things will only undermine your success. If you want to undermine the success of those 15 players and their efforts, then tomorrow anyone can make any statement, and we will start taking it seriously, which is not good for the boys.”

The head coach also said that the players performed brilliantly under immense pressure throughout the tournament and it is not right to ignore their hard work. He said, “Think about how much the boys have gone through – how much pressure they were under after losing a match in South Africa, what kind of pressure the boys were under. Today, if you are making such a statement, you are really letting your own players and your own team down, which you should not do.”

Many other cricketers have also reacted to this controversy. Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh also criticized Azad’s statement. Team player Ishan Kishan, when asked about the media’s criticism of Kirti Azad, had said, “We have won the World Cup, I expect good questions, who is Kirti Azad, what Kirti Azad says, it does not matter.”

It is noteworthy that with this victory, India has made another big achievement in the history of T20 World Cup. This success of the team’s players and support staff is being celebrated across the country, while the controversy surrounding the temple visit is still in the news.
