Fast bowler Mohammad Siraj became India’s strong shield on foreign pitches!
In the present times, if any fast bowler can bowl a long spell using aggressive methods with equal enthusiasm and patience, the name of Indian fast bowler Mohammad Siraj is taken prominently all over the world. Siraj is known for his never-tiring vitality.
Right-arm fast bowler Mohammad Siraj was born on 13 March 1994 in Secunderabad. His father was an auto driver. Therefore his journey as a cricketer has been very difficult. However, due to his desire to play for the country and hard work, he is counted among the top bowlers of current cricket.
Siraj started his cricket career at the age of 16 and started playing club cricket at the age of 19. Siraj’s ability made him debut for Hyderabad in Ranji Trophy at the age of 19.
During the 2016–17 Ranji Trophy tournament, he was the leading wicket-taker for Hyderabad with 41 wickets at an average of 18.92. Siraj was the leading wicket-taker in the 2017–18 Vijay Hazare Trophy with 23 wickets in seven matches.
Siraj, who has consistently performed well in domestic cricket, made his international debut in T20 in 2017. His debut in ODI was in 2019 and in Test in 2020. Since his debut in international cricket, Siraj has never looked back.
Siraj is a team man. His specialty is to never get tired and to be available whenever the team needs him. It is difficult for a fast bowler to bowl long spells at speeds around 140, but Siraj never says no.
Be it India or foreign soil, Siraj can be seen bowling continuously without getting tired in Test matches. On the long tours of Australia and England, Siraj is the only bowler who is a part of every Test.
The recent tour of Australia and England is also an example of this. Along with pace, swing and bounce makes Siraj dangerous. He has single-handedly won matches for the team many times in all three formats, either in India or on foreign soil.
On 21 January 2023, Siraj became the number one bowler in the ICC ODI rankings. So far, he has taken 139 wickets in 45 Test matches, 76 wickets in 50 ODIs, and 17 wickets in 17 T20s. Apart from this, he has taken 109 wickets in 108 IPL matches.
Siraj was a member of Team India that won the Asia Cup in 2023. He was also a part of Team India that played the final of the ODI World Cup 2023. Siraj has been a part of the Indian team that won T20 World Cup 2024 and T20 World Cup 2026. In the future, the Indian team expects match-winning performances from Siraj in big ICC tournaments, especially the World Test Championship.
