Rijiju said in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi deviated from the topic in LPG debate!
Kiren Rijiju said in the Lok Sabha, “In Parliament, we asked Rahul Gandhi at what time he wanted to raise this issue (LPG cylinder). At that time, other topics were under discussion in the Lok Sabha. We then said that if the Speaker gives special permission, the government is ready to respond.”
He further said, “When Rahul Gandhi got the opportunity to speak, instead of talking on the LPG issue, he started speaking on other related topics. The Speaker urged him that he has been given special permission to speak only on the LPG issue, that too as the Leader of the Opposition. Normally, such separate permission is not given, yet he was given. Despite this, he started raising issues other than those mentioned in the notice, such as America and supply-related issues. This Very sad.”
Rijiju said, “We then stood up and protested and told him that Rahul Gandhi, please speak on the subject. He was also requested by the government and the Speaker also repeatedly asked him to speak on the subject on which the notice has been given, but he did not speak on that subject.”
Rijiju said that when Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri was giving detailed information to the House, Rahul Gandhi sent his MPs to the well. Papers were torn and thrown and a ruckus was created, due to which the proceedings of the House had to be adjourned.
He said, “Today Congress and many other leaders met us and mentioned the suspension of eight MPs, but if this kind of behavior will happen, even after giving special permission to the Leader of the Opposition by changing and modifying the rules, then the people of the country should also think about the role of the Leader of the Opposition. The rest of the Lok Sabha proceedings will continue, as the Speaker has said today.”
