West Bengal election dates announced, voting on 23rd and 29th April, results on 4th May!
Gyanesh Kumar said that voting will be done in two phases in West Bengal. Voting will take place on April 23 and April 29. Counting of votes will take place on May 4. There will be adequate arrangements at polling booths. Also, there will be strict security arrangements.
According to the Election Commission, there are 6.44 crore voters in West Bengal, of which male voters are 3.28 crore, female voters are 3.16 crore and third gender voters are 1152. If we talk about first time voters (18-19 years) then their number is 5.23 lakh.
Let us tell you that in the year 2021, West Bengal Assembly elections were held in 8 phases. This election took a long time, because there are 294 seats in the state and keeping in mind the security, law and order, and large voter base, the Election Commission had conducted it in 8 phases.
In the last election also, Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) had registered a landslide victory in the West Bengal Assembly elections. TMC holds 215 out of total 294 seats in Bengal. The party got about 48 percent votes.
At the same time, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the main opposition party and got 77 seats. The Left Front and Congress, which have dominated Bengal politics for decades, suffered a historic setback and failed to win even a single seat. The Indian Secular Front (ISF), contesting the elections under the alliance, got one seat.
Muslims constitute about 30 percent of the total population of West Bengal. There are 294 seats in the state assembly and Muslim voters play a decisive role in about 40 to 50 constituencies.
