Crude oil tanker ‘Jag Ladki’ reached Mundra Bunder

Indian flagged crude oil tanker ‘Jag Ladki’ has successfully docked at Mundra Port in Gujarat, significantly enhancing the country’s energy import capacity. The ship reached the port carrying approximately 80,886 metric tons of crude oil. The consignment was brought from the United Arab Emirates and loaded at Fujairah Port.

The total length of this ship is 274.19 meters and width is 50.04 meters. The deadweight tonnage of the tanker is approximately 1,64,716 tonnes and the gross tonnage is approximately 84,735 tonnes. Mundra Port facilities are playing a vital role in handling large scale crude oil imports. Such supplies are vital for major oil refinery companies, which depend on this supply to maintain their operations and strengthen India’s energy security.

This maritime activity has taken place amid increasing regional tensions in West Asia. Earlier, two Indian-flagged LPG carrier ships have safely transited the Strait of Hormuz before reaching India on March 16 and 17. MT Shivalik and MT Nanda Devi had transited the Strait of Hormuz in the early hours of 13 March 2026 with approximately 92,712 MT of LPG.

To safeguard its commercial interests, India maintains a constant naval presence in this maritime area under ‘Operation Sankalp’. The Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping) is closely monitoring the situation in coordination with shipowners, Recruitment and Placement Service License (RPSL) agencies and Indian embassies located in the region.

According to the press release, the Union Shipping Minister is also actively monitoring the situation. The government is working closely with ports, shipping companies and logistics sector stakeholders to ensure that there is no disruption in maritime trade. Ports have been advised to adopt concessional measures, if necessary, including waiver of anchoring, berth charges and storage charges.
