India’s Electronics Hardware Exports To Grow Over 32 Percent Year On Year In 2024 25
India’s electronics hardware exports see strong growth by 32.47 per cent year-on-year to $38.58 billion in 2024-25. This information was given in the report released on Wednesday. The Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) report said exports stood at $29.12 billion in 2023-24, reflecting sharp growth mainly driven by telecommunication equipment, especially smartphones.
Smartphone exports alone are expected to grow from $15.57 billion in 2023-24 to an estimated $24.14 billion in 2024-25, making it the largest share of India’s electronic hardware exports.
Additionally, the US had the highest share in smartphone exports, accounting for 44 percent of India’s smartphone exports. This was followed by the United Arab Emirates (11 percent), Netherlands (9 percent), United Kingdom (6 percent) and Italy (5 percent).
North America emerged as the largest destination with exports worth $14.70 billion, followed by Europe at second place with exports worth $11.45 billion.
ESC Chairman Veer Sagar said the initiatives launched under the banner of Bharat Tech are helping Indian companies expand in emerging markets such as Africa, Latin America, CIS, ASEAN and SAARC, as well as strengthen their presence in established regions such as North America and Europe.
ESC Executive Director Gurmeet Singh said there has been strong growth in hardware exports, with telecom equipment led by smartphones acting as the key growth driver.
Exports to Russia and CIS countries more than tripled to $1.10 billion, while the Middle East’s share stood at $5.20 billion.
According to the report, “Exports to Korea and Japan increased by 48.56 percent and reached $1.75 billion.”
Among states, Tamil Nadu leads with exports worth $15 billion in 2024-25, followed by Karnataka ($7.85 billion), Uttar Pradesh ($5.30 billion), Maharashtra ($3.60 billion), Gujarat ($2.80 billion) and Delhi ($1 billion).
The report data shows that India’s electronics manufacturing and export base is expanding beyond traditional clusters into multiple sectors.
