Let us tell you that the RG tax case is of August 2024. A junior doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital was allegedly raped and murdered. This case had created outrage across the country. Sanjay Roy, the accused in the case, was later arrested and the court sentenced him to life imprisonment for the crime of rape and murder.
Now the decision of the victim’s mother to contest the elections has once again brought this issue to the political center stage. Experts believe that this step can make the issues of women’s safety, law and order and justice a major part of the election debate in the state. Overall, this development may bring a new twist in the politics of West Bengal, where a sensitive criminal case is now directly linked to the election discourse.
