Although no organization has so far claimed responsibility for the attack, security agencies believe that ULFA-I militants may be behind it. The sophisticated weapons used in the attack and the organization’s activity in this area strengthen this apprehension. It is said that this organization also has contacts with Myanmar.
This incident has happened at a time when security arrangements have already been tightened in connection with the 2026 assembly elections in Assam. In such a situation, this attack is also being seen as an attempt to influence the election environment.
After the attack, the administration has issued a high alert in Tinsukia district and interstate borders. Security forces have started extensive search and cordon operations and patrolling has been increased. Additionally, recent incidents of alleged extortion from local businessmen have also come under investigation, leading to possible links to the attack.
