Iran Fires Missiles At Israel With Images Of Spanish Pm
In the fourth week of the ongoing war in the Middle East, Iran has caught the world’s attention through a unique and symbolic step. Iran has pasted anti-war messages from Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on ballistic missiles fired toward Israel.
Pictures surfaced through Iranian media show an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) soldier placing a sticker on a missile bearing Sanchez’s photo and his alleged statement, “Of course, this war is not only illegal, but also inhumane. Thank you, Mr. Prime Minister.” This message was written in both English and Persian languages.

The move comes days after Pedro Sanchez made a statement criticizing US-Israeli military action, saying “no to war.” He termed these attacks as unfair, illegal and dangerous. This stance of Sanchez, who is among the few leaders of Europe, has become a topic of discussion at the international level.

Iran writing or pasting messages on weapons is nothing new. Even before this, Iranian soldiers have been seen writing slogans on the missiles, in which it was said that the attacks will continue until the American military presence is eliminated from the Middle East. However, this time the use of the statement of a European leader makes this entire incident more political.
Meanwhile, Spain has also taken some strict steps at its level. According to reports, the Spanish government has refused to allow the US to use Rota Naval Base and Moron Air Base, increasing tensions between the two countries. Expressing displeasure over this decision, US President Donald Trump has warned to reconsider trade relations with Spain.
Even at the recently held EU summit in Brussels, Pedro Sanchez reiterated his stance that this war is not only illegal but is proving disastrous for civilians. He warned that this could lead to serious consequences like displacement and economic instability. At the same time, Spain’s Ambassador to India Juan Antonio March Pujol also recently said that the impact of instability in the Middle East can reach Europe, as was seen during the Syrian civil war.
More than 2,000 people have died so far in this war that has been going on since February 28. Iran has warned that if the US intensifies military action, it could target important infrastructure related to energy and water supplies in the Gulf region. In response, Donald Trump has given Iran an ultimatum to open the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours, otherwise it has warned of attacks on power infrastructure.
