PM Modi said in Rajya Sabha, solution to West Asia crisis is dialogue!
Expressing concern over the ongoing conflict in West Asia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said in the Rajya Sabha that this war has created a major energy crisis in the entire world, which is impacting India as well.
He said that the situation is challenging, but India is continuously working towards a solution through diplomatic efforts. India is in constant touch with all the major countries of West Asia.
He said that he has had two rounds of phone talks with the heads of state of the region and continuous dialogue is also going on with Iran, Israel and America. India has suggested the only way to solve this problem is through dialogue.
PM Modi said that a large number of ships are stranded in the Strait of Hormuz, which also includes Indian crew members. Such blockage of international waterways and attacks on commercial vessels is completely unacceptable. India is continuously making diplomatic efforts to ensure safe passage of its ships in this situation.
He also clarified that India has strongly opposed attacks on civilians, civil infrastructure, energy and transport infrastructure. Any violent conflict is not in the interest of humanity, and India is encouraging all parties to come to the path of peace as soon as possible.
Regarding the security of Indians living abroad, the Prime Minister said that this is the biggest priority of the government. He said that during this crisis, so far more than 3 lakh 75 thousand Indians have returned safely. More than 1,000 Indians have returned from Iran alone, including more than 700 medical students.
The Prime Minister also admitted that some Indians have died and some have been injured during this conflict. He said that all possible assistance is being provided to the affected families and arrangements have been made for better treatment of the injured.
The government is working with full sensitivity in these difficult times and has received positive assurances from all countries to ensure the safety of Indians living abroad.
On the energy supply front, he said that in recent times, ships loaded with oil and LPG from many countries have reached India. He assured that in the coming times also, the government will ensure that all the essential goods related to the needs of the country continue to reach India safely.
