Ipl 2026 Rcb Suffers Setback As Fast Bowler Withdraws From The League Due To Personal Reasons

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 is going to start from March 28, due to which the defending champion Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has suffered a big blow. Fast bowler Yash Dayal will be out of the entire tournament due to personal reasons. The franchise confirmed this on Tuesday. RCB is going to start its campaign with a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 28 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Dayal’s absence from training sessions and the absence of his picture on the team bus poster had already fueled rumors of his ouster. Now RCB Cricket Director, Mo Bobat has cleared all the doubts related to his exclusion.

Bobat also said that even though Dayal is not taking part in the tournament, he will still remain a part of the contract. The team management will continue to support the players even in these difficult times.

Bobat said during a press conference on Tuesday (March 24), “I just want to confirm that Yash will not be joining the team. As you know, he is going through a personal difficult phase right now. I also want to make it clear that we have supported Yash completely till now. The proof of this is that when we had the opportunity to retain or release players, we retained him. We wanted to retain him. He is still under contract. Are and will remain under contract for some time to come.”

He said, “We are in constant touch with Yash Dayal. I also spoke to him earlier today, but it has been decided that it is neither in his own interest nor in the interest of the franchise for him to join us at this time. Our support continues to be with him, and he is still under contract with us. Even as he goes through his personal difficulties, we will continue to engage with him.”

Yash Dayal recently married social media influencer Shweta Pundir. He has been at the center of major controversies for some time now. A few months ago, he was denied anticipatory bail because he was involved in a case in which he was accused of allegedly raping a minor girl.

The controversy began in July 2025, when a case was filed against him accusing him of allegedly exploiting a woman on the pretext of marriage. After this, another new case came against him under POCSO Act in Jaipur.
