Tamil Nadu Elections: DMK manifesto on Sunday, campaign starts from March 31!

Political parties have started preparations on war footing for Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Meanwhile, Chief Minister MK Stalin on Saturday announced that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) will release its election manifesto on Sunday and begin statewide election campaigning on March 31.

The announcement came after Stalin released the list of 164 DMK candidates for the April 23 elections. Emphasizing on the representation and merit of the party, Chief Minister Stalin said that the list of candidates shows a mix of experience, education and new talent. Of the 164 candidates, 125 are graduates, while 18 are women.

Of the nominated candidates, seven have PhD, 15 have doctorate, 17 have engineering degree and 29 have law degree.

Taking an important step towards organizational renewal, Chief Minister Stalin said that more than 60 new faces have been given the opportunity to contest the elections.

He said that we have ensured a balance between experience and young talent. These candidates represent the aspirations of the people and the future direction of the party.

Responding to criticism over the delay in announcing the candidates, Chief Minister Stalin defended the timing, citing the need for broader deliberations within the alliance.

He said that many people asked why we did not release our list earlier. We have a broad alliance. We patiently talked to all the partners, ensured their satisfaction, made compromises and carefully finalized the list.

He further said that this is the time to unite everyone. DMK has formed a big alliance and we are moving forward with collective strength.

He further said that preparations for the assembly elections began immediately after the parliamentary elections, which reflected the party’s early planning and strategic vision.

With the release of the manifesto and the start of the election campaign from March 31, the DMK is gearing up for an intense electoral contest with a comprehensive strategy and diverse candidates.
