Amit Shah released ‘white paper’, raised serious questions on 15 years of rule in Bengal!
On the issue of “infiltration”, the ‘white paper’ claims that 569 km of the 2,216.7 km long international border with Bangladesh in West Bengal is still unfenced. This work could not be done due to delay in land acquisition by the state government, which encouraged infiltration.
The document also alleges that the Trinamool Congress ran syndicates in providing fake identity cards to infiltrators to create a “vote bank”, thereby impacting national security and population balance.
On the issue of “corruption in the system and weakening of institutions”, it has been said that the corruption spread in different sectors and the culture of ‘cut-money’ has affected the services provided to the common people. The report also said that about 20 lakh government employees did not get dearness allowance and the Seventh Pay Commission was not implemented, due to which there is resentment among them.
Apart from this, allegations have also been made of obstruction in the process of changing the voter list and ignoring the directions of the Supreme Court of India, which worsened the situation. According to the report, there have been more than 300 political killings and more than 13,000 assassination attempts since 2016. Besides, incidents of communal tension also came to light in many areas of the state, due to which an atmosphere of fear is created.
The white paper also expresses concern about crimes against women. The report said that 34,738 such cases were registered in 2023. Apart from this, allegations were also made of suspending the leader of the opposition in the assembly and suppressing the voice of the opposition MLAs, which weakened the democratic system.
Under “economic and industrial decline” it is claimed that in 15 years, 6,688 companies left the state and 18,450 small industries were closed, leading to massive capital loss. The report also said that due to unemployment, more than 40 lakh youth had to leave the state. The unemployment rate at the postgraduate level is reported to be 47.6 percent.
There has also been talk of crisis in the agricultural sector. The problems of potato and paddy farmers, allegations of extortion in fisheries and dairy sectors, and neglect of about 5 lakh tea garden workers of North Bengal are mentioned in the white paper.
Under “weakening of social structure”, it was reported that the jobs of 26,000 teachers and non-teaching staff in schools in the state had to be canceled after the Supreme Court of India ordered that irregularities in appointments were found.
The white paper also alleges decline in the health sector. According to the report, the state did not implement the Ayushman Bharat scheme and cases of fake medicine scams were reported. Also, lack of basic facilities in super-speciality hospitals was reported.
Referring to urban problems, it was said that the condition of infrastructure is deteriorating in Kolkata, where problems like illegal construction, incidents of flyover collapse and frequent fires have come to the fore.
