A big controversy has emerged regarding ball tampering in Pakistan Super League 2026, in which Lahore Qalandars have been accused of ball tampering during the match. After this incident, the team was given a penalty of 5 runs, which changed the course of the match.
This matter came to light during the match played against Karachi Kings. After 19 overs of the second innings, the umpires suspected that the condition of the ball had been changed. After this, umpires Faisal Afridi and Sharfuddaula examined the ball and found that it had been tampered with.
During this, captain Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf and Fakhar Zaman were seen interacting with the ball and handling it, after which this action was taken.

The umpires gave 5 runs as penalty to Karachi Kings and replaced the ball immediately. After this decision, Karachi needed only 9 runs instead of 14 in the last over, due to which the match was completely overturned. Karachi won the match with 3 balls remaining. After the match, Shaheen Afridi said, “I don’t know whether the ball was tampered or not. We will discuss it after watching the video. The 5-run penalty was a loss, but it is too early to say anything.”

According to reports, Pakistan Super League has constituted a committee to investigate this entire matter. Former cricketer Kamran Akmal says that if the allegations are proved, then strict action can be taken not only against Fakhar Zaman but also against captain Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf. Kamran Akhtar said, “If this is proved to be ball tampering, then the captain and other players can also be banned.”
