Surrender of nine Naxalites including Suresh accused of murder of two MLAs

The central government has set March 31, 2026 as the deadline to end Naxalism. 24 hours before this deadline, the security forces of Andhra Pradesh have got a big success. Nine Naxalites, including key Maoist commander Suresh, have surrendered. According to the information, this commander was underground for the last 36 years. Now efforts will be made to rehabilitate the Naxalites and bring them into the mainstream.

The nine Naxalites who surrendered in Andhra Pradesh’s Vijayawada also include top Maoist commander Chelluri Narayana Rao, known as Suresh, who was underground for the last 36 years. Suresh was a member of the Central Committee of the CPI (Maoist) and secretary of the Andhra–Odisha Border Special Regional Committee. Eight other Naxalites, including platoon commanders and regional committee members from Chhattisgarh and Odisha, also surrendered. All surrendered before Director General of Police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta.

Police have made many important revelations about this senior commander Suresh and other Maoists who surrendered. Suresh has been involved in several major Maoist attacks in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Chhattisgarh. In the year 2018, he was the main accused in the murder case of former MLA Kidari Sarveshwar Rao and former MLA Shivri Someshwar Rao. Apart from this, his name has also surfaced in several attacks on police forces.

Police have recovered a huge cache of weapons from the Maoists, including one INSAS rifle, two BGL weapons, five .303 rifles, five SBBL guns and six single-shot rifles. Apart from this, a large quantity of explosives, ammunition and communication equipment have also been seized.
