Bhopal South West Election Case In Supreme Court The Truth Will Come Out Sharma

PC Sharma, former minister of Madhya Pradesh and who lost the assembly elections, says that the case of Bhopal South-West elections is under consideration in the Supreme Court and the truth will come out.

Talking to reporters at the state office of Congress, PC Sharma emphasized on the status of election results of south-west region of Bhopal. He said that this matter is under consideration in the Supreme Court through a special petition and notice has also been issued.

Former minister Sharma, who was the Congress candidate from Bhopal South-West Assembly constituency, said that considering the seriousness of the SLP Civil in the Supreme Court, the court has taken cognizance and issued notice.

Sharma said that voting was held on 17 November 2023 under the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections held in November 2023, in which he was the candidate of the Indian National Congress. In the counting of votes held on December 3, 2023, the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate was declared victorious.

He alleged that he had got about 25 per cent more support in the votes received through ballot paper, while the results in the counting of votes through EVM machines showed the complete opposite. In the EVM machines where the battery level was 99 percent, the BJP candidate won, while in the machines where the battery level was 60 to 70 percent, the Congress got the lead.

PC Sharma also said that he had CCTV footage of the strong room available, which indicated alleged tampering with the EVM machines. He asked for CCTV footage of the counting site and other technical information under the Right to Information Act after the elections.

But it was not made available by the Election Commission saying it was subject to court orders. Apart from this, information related to the capacity and usage of batteries used in EVMs and VVPAT machines was also sought, which the manufacturing company refused to provide, terming it as highly confidential.

The Congress leader said that secrecy and hiding of information raises serious questions on the transparency of the election process. He alleged that the functioning of the Election Commission is under suspicion and this has hurt the concept of fair elections.

He said that this entire incident is worrying for democratic values and has caused a deep blow to democracy. PC Sharma said that since the case is currently sub-judice in the Supreme Court, he is confident that the court will protect democracy by bringing out the truth.
