Maharashtra has now completely come out of the shadow of Naxalism and the state has been declared Naxal-free, such an important announcement was made by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. On Monday (30 March) afternoon, a meeting was held with Director General of Police Sadanand Date and senior police officers at the State Director General of Police office. After this meeting, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis gave this information while talking to the media.

End of Naxalism and respect for C-60 soldiers…

Maharashtra Police has succeeded in achieving the resolution taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to end Naxalism. Naxalite activities have been completely eliminated in difficult areas including Gadchiroli. All 214 soldiers and officers of the C-60 force who played an important role in this operation will be honored with a special ‘C-60 Medal’, the Chief Minister announced.

The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and advanced technology is being increased in the police force. The entire process from registering FIR to filing charge sheet in the court will be digitalized. The main objective of the government is to make the entire criminal justice system paper-free and faster.

The Chief Minister also informed that 106 amendments and updated changes have been incorporated in the Indian Civil Code (BNS). The conviction rate in the state has improved, but we are still half way towards the target, he also admitted.

The cases in which the accused were acquitted in the last 4-5 years will be reviewed. Errors and technical deficiencies in the investigation will be identified and removed. There will be a review of the work every month through the Director General of Police, in which those who perform well will be appreciated and action will be taken against those who are negligent.

‘Drug Free Campus’ and Road Safety…

CM Fadnavis also said, ‘Drug Free Campus’ campaign will be run across Maharashtra to keep the youth of the state away from drugs. The model that was successful in Nagpur (where there was a 30% reduction in road accidents) is being considered for implementation in the entire state.

Referring to the Prashant Padole accident case, the Chief Minister said that this matter will be thoroughly re-investigated. Whether it was an accident or a conspiracy will be investigated. He gave a strict message that even if a public representative or MP is involved, no exemption will be given to anyone before the law.
