Bharat Electronics gets new orders worth ₹6,795 crore, defense and export portfolio strengthened
Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), the country’s leading defense electronics company, has received new orders worth ₹6,795 crore till March 31, 2026. The company said that these orders have been received in a very short time since the previous information released on March 30, reflecting the continuously increasing demand in the defense and strategic electronics sector. These new orders include defense systems, avionics, communication equipment and export-related projects. This has further strengthened the company’s order book and increased clarity regarding near-term revenues.
In this sequence, the Defense Ministry has also signed a big contract with BEL worth about ₹ 1,950 crore. Under this agreement, two state-of-the-art mountain radars and related equipment will be supplied to the Indian Air Force. This mountain radar system has been indigenously designed and developed by the Electronics and Radar Development Establishment of DRDO, which will be manufactured by BEL. This partnership promotes indigenous production of cutting-edge defense technology in the country.
The deployment of these radars will significantly improve surveillance and security capabilities, especially in hilly areas, thereby strengthening the operational preparedness of the Indian Air Force.
The deal has been done under the ‘Buy (Indian-Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured)’ category, in line with the Self-reliant India campaign. Its objective is to reduce foreign dependence in the defense sector and encourage domestic industry. This initiative not only promotes technological innovation but will also accelerate employment generation, skill development and industrial growth.
The company has also received an order from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited for the supply of avionics packages for Light Combat Aircraft (LCA). This deal will further strengthen the country’s indigenous defense platform. The company’s long-term growth prospects remain strong due to a balanced order pipeline on both domestic and export fronts.
