If we look at the actual figures, the contribution of DPSUs was Rs 21,071 crore and the contribution of private companies was Rs 17,353 crore.

He said, “Under the inspiring leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is writing a spectacular success story in defense exports! India’s defense exports have reached an all-time high of ₹38,424 crore in FY 2025-26. This shows a strong growth of 62.66% over the previous financial year. This huge increase of ₹14,802 crore in defense exports is a huge boost to India’s indigenous “This milestone reflects the growing global confidence in capabilities and advanced manufacturing strength. With 54.84% contribution from DPSUs and 45.16% contribution from private industry, this milestone reflects the strength of a collaborative and self-reliant defense ecosystem.”

151% jump in DPSU, private sector also strong

According to the report, the exports of DPSU have registered a huge growth of 151 percent compared to last year. At the same time, the private sector has also registered its strong presence with a growth of 14 percent. This figure of defense exports represents almost three times growth in the last five years. This is an indication that defense products made in India are increasingly being accepted globally.

Export to more than 80 countries

India is now exporting defense equipment to more than 80 countries. Government efforts to simplify regulatory processes have played an important role in promoting exports. The streamlined online clearance system and simplified procedures have made it easier for companies to obtain export approvals. As a result, the number of defense exporters has increased from 128 to 145 in the last one year.

Among the most sought-after systems is the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, which has attracted the attention of countries like the Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia due to its accurate strike range of up to 300 km.

The efforts made by the government to increase ease of doing business and encourage defense exports are also considered to be a major contribution to this growth. The Department of Defense Production has simplified the export process through a new online portal and simplified Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
