Seventh LPG tanker crossing the Strait of Hormuz leaves for India
Tension remains amid the Middle East crisis. Meanwhile, some relief news has come out for India. The seventh Indian flagged LPG tanker ‘Green Saanvi’ has succeeded in crossing the Strait of Hormuz. It is expected that this ship will reach India soon. Since the start of the war in West Asia, so far six LPG tankers have crossed the Strait of Hormuz and reached Indian ports. Now the seventh tanker is also heading towards India, which is likely to provide relief from the current LPG shortage.
However, 17 Indian ships are still stranded in the western part of Hormuz. These also include two LPG filled ships like ‘Green Asha’ and ‘Jag Vikram’. According to experts, both these ships may soon cross Hormuz and leave for India. Additionally, three Indian ships carrying LPG are currently anchored north-east of Abu Musa Island in the Persian Gulf and awaiting orders to proceed as per Indian Navy instructions.
Meanwhile, a foreign ship carrying crude oil from Iran to India suddenly changed its destination en route and is now heading towards China. Experts believe that there could be a payment related issue behind this change. It appears that sellers have tightened their terms. If payment issues are resolved, the consignment may reach Indian refineries later.
