BJP workers gathered in Cooch Behar before Narendra Modi rally, challenging Mamata
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a public meeting in Cooch Behar, West Bengal at 4:15 pm on Sunday. A large number of BJP workers are arriving to attend PM’s public meeting.
The Prime Minister will address the BJP’s ‘Vijay Sankalp Sabha’ at the historic Ras Mela grounds, marking the beginning of an aggressive public relations campaign in the region that has emerged as a strong saffron stronghold in recent years. There are strong security arrangements here. A large number of police and forces have been deployed.
A local resident who reached the rally said, “TMC has taken away the right to vote from us. They have not been allowing us to vote for 15 years. I have come to listen to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
Another youth said, “We want the current TMC government to be defeated. We will exercise our right to vote properly in the upcoming elections.” Another local person said, “It will become clear from today’s meeting that Mamata didi will not get a single vote.”
At the same time, BJP workers were stopped from attending the meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A BJP worker said, “We were planning to come in the same vehicle from different villages, but someone stopped the vehicle from entering. With great difficulty we have reached Narendra Modi’s meeting.”
This is Modi’s first election rally in the state after the announcement of assembly elections, while this will be the Prime Minister’s fourth public meeting at the Rasht Mela ground.
Earlier, during the 2019 and 2024 Lok Sabha elections and 2021 Assembly elections, he had addressed a huge public meeting on the same ground. Elections for the 294-member West Bengal Assembly will be held in two phases on April 23 and 29, while counting of votes will take place on May 4.
Prime Minister Modi had earlier visited West Bengal on March 14, when he addressed a rally at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata and inaugurated development projects worth about Rs 18,680 crore.
