Income from mining in Uttarakhand crosses Rs 1200 crore for the first time
As a result of the visionary leadership and strong policies of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Mining Department of Uttarakhand is setting new dimensions in the field of revenue generation. In the financial year 2025-26, the department has broken all records so far by earning a total revenue of Rs 1,217 crore against the set target of Rs 950 crore.
This achievement includes contribution of Rs 1,130 crore to the treasury, Rs 80 crore to the District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMF) and Rs 7 crore from SMET. Earlier in the financial year 2024-25 also, the department had proved its efficiency by earning revenue of Rs 1,041 crore against the target of Rs 875 crore.
This continuous growth of mining revenue in the state is a direct result of the transparent, accountable and reform-oriented policies of Chief Minister Dhami. This journey, which started with just Rs 110 crore in the year 2012-13, has now reached Rs 1,217 crore in 2025-26, which shows the economic strength of the state.
Under the clear instructions of CM Dhami, mineral policy and rules were simplified, which promoted legal mining and effectively stopped illegal mining, transportation and storage. Mining leases were allotted under a transparent system, which made possible a significant increase in revenue.
On the initiative of CM Dhami, technological innovations were also given priority. Through Mining Digital Transformation and Surveillance System, 45 state-of-the-art e-check gates have been installed in four plain districts, in which ANPR cameras, RFID tags and other modern equipment have been arranged.
Along with this, digital platforms like Mineral Management System, E Ravanna, Mining E-Services, Surveillance Enforcement System and Decision Support System have been implemented.
To make the e-Ravanna system more secure, a paper system with special security features has been implemented, which has effectively controlled fraud and misuse. Due to all these efforts, illegal mining has been curbed and revenue has increased manifold.
These innovations made under the guidance of Chief Minister Dhami have also been appreciated at the national level. MDTSS and e-Ravanna Security Paper projects were awarded the prestigious SCOCH Award (Gold) at a ceremony held in New Delhi on 28 March 2026.
Additionally, Uttarakhand was ranked second among ‘C’ category states for excellent performance in minor mineral reclamation by the Ministry of Mines, Government of India, under which it received an incentive of Rs 100 crore. Besides, additional incentive amount of Rs 100 crore was also received for better performance in State Mining Readiness Index.
It is clear that the coordination of transparency, technical empowerment and strict enforcement under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has given a new direction to the mining sector of Uttarakhand, which is strengthening the economy of the state and establishing a model of good governance.
