Death of Rahul Arunoday Banerjee, Bengali industry strike begins on security demand!
On Tuesday morning, the view of Kolkata’s Bharat Lakshmi Studio was completely changed. While on normal days there is a lot of shooting, there was silence on Tuesday morning. All the shooting floors were closed and no technical work was being done anywhere. The guards of the studio were also seen discussing among themselves when the shooting would start again.
Even the director could not start the work due to the technicians going on strike. Many directors and actors were seen standing in support of the late actor’s family and showed solidarity in this hour of grief.
The late actor’s wife and actress Priyanka Sarkar will also participate in this strike. Apart from this, big names of Bengali cinema Prosenjit Chatterjee, actress Rituparna Sengupta and Dev can also participate in it.
In fact, on March 29, 42-year-old Rahul Arunoday Banerjee died while he was shooting for ‘Bhole Baba Paar Karega’. While shooting at Talsari beach, he had gone into the water when suddenly the tide came and this accident happened. This incident has left the entire Bengali film and TV world in deep shock. The actor leaves behind his mother, wife and 13-year-old son.
After this incident, a section of the industry has demanded a fair and detailed investigation. He also said that to avoid such incidents in future, strong security arrangements should be made at every shooting location. Artists have specifically raised the demand that essential facilities like an ambulance should be compulsorily present on every set.
Priyanka government has also taken legal action in this matter. They have filed complaints at Regent Park police station in Kolkata and Talasari police station in Odisha. Additionally, an FIR has been lodged against five people associated with a production company named ‘Magic Moments’, who are believed to be responsible for this shooting.
