Indian LPG vessel ‘Jag Vikram’ safely crosses Hormuz, will reach Mumbai soon!
According to the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, the ship is loaded with about 20,400 metric tonnes of LPG and has 24 sailors on board. It is expected to reach Mumbai by 15th April.
The government has assured that all Indian seafarers present in the area are safe and no incidents involving any Indian flagged ship have been reported in the last 24 hours.
Also, necessary steps have been taken to ensure the safety of Indian ships and sailors and constant monitoring is being done through 24-hour shipping control room. Since the launch of this control room, 5,973 calls and more than 12,675 emails have been handled, including 128 calls and 319 emails in the last 24 hours alone.
The government has so far ensured the safe return of more than 2,009 Indian seafarers through the Directorate General of Shipping, including 81 seafarers in the last 24 hours. Work at ports across the country remains normal and there is no congestion or blockage anywhere.
The government also informed that continuous coordination is being done with the Ministry of External Affairs, Indian Missions and maritime sector stakeholders to ensure the safety of seafarers and smooth operations.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that Indian embassies in the Gulf and West Asia region are in constant touch with the Indian community and are issuing necessary assistance and advisories for their safety.
The Ministry clarified that it is continuously monitoring the developments in the region and is ensuring better coordination with the States and Union Territories, so that any situation can be dealt with effectively.
