He said that the Parliament of India is close to creating a new history. A history that will realize the resolutions of the past and fulfill the goals of the future. Envisioning an India where social justice is not just a slogan but becomes a natural part of the work culture and decision process.
The Prime Minister said that the days of 16, 17 and 18 April are being seen as the end of the decades-long wait for women’s reservation. He reminded that the first step was taken in the form of Nari Shakti Vandan Act, 2023 in the new Parliament in 2023.
He said that to implement this law on time and to strengthen women’s participation in democracy, a special meeting of the budget session of Parliament is being organized from April 16. He also described this conference as a medium to get the blessings of women across the country.
He said, “I have not come here to preach to anyone, I have just come to seek blessings of the women of the country.” He expressed his gratitude to the women who came from every corner of the country and said that their participation further strengthens this historic initiative.
PM Modi said that the need to give reservation to women in a democratic system was being felt for decades and discussion on this has been going on for almost four decades. It has involved the efforts of all political parties and several generations.
Prime Minister Modi said that when this law was brought in Parliament in 2023, all parties had unanimously supported it. He told that at that time the opposition parties had also insisted that this provision should be implemented by 2029 under any circumstances.
In his address, the Prime Minister congratulated all the women of the country on the ‘arrival of a new era’ and said that this decision will make the country’s democracy stronger.
