This BAPS Swaminarayan Temple located in Dadar is considered one of the major religious places in Mumbai. This temple is a symbol of the teachings and traditions of the Swaminarayan sect, where a large number of devotees come every day for darshan.
Lord Swaminarayan is considered a great saint and spiritual guru of Hindu religion. He showed people the way to live a simple and good life. He was born on 3 April 1781 in Ayodhya and his childhood name was Ghanshyam. He left home at an early age and traveled the country teaching people about religion, truth and good behavior.
Swaminarayan taught people to give up drug addiction, stay away from violence and live with each other with love and respect. There were many bad practices in the society at that time, which he worked to remove.
