Not Giving Jasprit Bumrah The First Over Is Not My Problem Hardik Pandya
Jasprit Bumrah has got the first wicket of IPL 2026. Bumrah got his first wicket in the sixth match of the season. Opening the bowling for MI in the match played between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Gujarat Titans (GT) on Monday, Bumrah took a wicket on the very first ball.
Jasprit Bumrah bowled the first over of the innings for the first time in the season for MI. On this, Hardik Pandya said, “I have seen a lot of people saying that why Jassi did not bowl the first over. If you see, in 151 matches, Jasprit has bowled the first over only 8 or 9 times. So I don’t think it is Hardik Pandya’s problem. It is just that Jasprit Bumrah is so special that you use him wherever it is necessary for the team, and not when you start. Against GT we have Felt we really wanted to make an impact with the new ball, and there is no one better than him.”
Jasprit Bumrah did not open the bowling for Mumbai Indians in the first 5 matches of the season. Its effect was visible on his bowling. Bumrah could not take even 1 wicket in the last 5 matches. Besides, runs were also being scored on his balls. Bumrah, who came to open the bowling against GT, ended his wicket drought by taking a wicket on the very first ball and gave a strong start to MI which later converted into victory. Bumrah took 1 wicket for 15 runs in 3 overs.
MI scored 199 runs for 5 wickets thanks to Tilak’s unbeaten inning of 101 runs and won by 99 runs after bowling out GT for 100 runs. Tilak was the player of the match. For MI, Ashwani Kumar took 4 wickets for 24 runs in 4 overs.
